Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of authentic assessment in the Islamic Religious Education subject under the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Islam Terpadu Bina Insan Muara Wahau. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews with the PAI teacher. The results reveal that the teacher has implemented authentic assessment comprehensively, covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The assessment strategies were designed based on the Learning Outcomes of the Merdeka Curriculum and integrated with applicable Islamic values. Forms of assessment used include project-based assessment, attitude observation, and performance-based assessment. Despite challenges such as limited instructional time, large class sizes, and students’ limited understanding of authentic assessment, the teacher and school have implemented several solutions, including teacher collaboration, the use of technology, and personalized approaches. The implementation of authentic assessment has proven effective in supporting the development of Islamic character and the internalization of religious values in students’ daily lives
