Strategi Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam Meningkatkan Minat Belajar Siswa di Sekolah Dasar Negeri Tatah Mesjid 2 Kecamatan Alalak Kabupaten Barito Kuala

Abstract

Students' learning interest is a crucial factor in supporting the success of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning. However, some students still demonstrate low levels of attention, participation, and enthusiasm during the learning process. This study aims to describe the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers to enhance students' learning interest and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting their implementation at Tatah Mesjid 2 State Elementary School, Alalak District, Barito Kuala Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach using a field research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the techniques of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the teacher implemented a variety of instructional strategies, including direct instruction, lectures, question-and-answer sessions, discussions, ice-breaking activities, educational games, and contextualizing learning materials by relating them to students' daily lives and current issues. These strategies effectively enhanced students' participation, confidence in expressing opinions, attention, and enthusiasm during the learning process. Supporting factors included students' intrinsic motivation, family support, the school environment, and the use of diverse instructional strategies. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors consisted of low motivation among some students, laziness, less conducive classroom conditions, and insufficient family support. The study concludes that the implementation of varied and contextual instructional strategies contributes positively to improving students' learning interest and may serve as a valuable reference for Islamic Religious Education teachers in creating more effective learning experiences.
