Abstract

This study focuses on the issue of learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for students at Sekolah Dasar Islam Rahmatillah. In an effort to improve learning motivation, teacher attention is crucial every time PAI lessons begin. As a formal educational institution, the school is expected to be able to attract students' interest to be more active in PAI learning. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the learning motivation for PAI among the fourth-grade students is still low. Six students in the class appear less interested in participating in PAI lessons. This is evident from their behavior, such as not paying attention when the teacher explains the material, being reluctant to ask questions when they don’t understand the lesson, frequently entering and leaving the classroom during the lesson, and some even fall asleep while the teacher is explaining. Furthermore, most of the students express their dislike of memorization tasks, which they consider the most difficult part of the PAI lessons. To improve learning motivation, the study found several strategies that can be implemented by the teacher, including giving grades, offering praise and rewards, presenting lessons in a systematic and planned manner, using teaching aids, incorporating breaks, offering advice, and listening to students' complaints while providing appropriate solutions
